What others say about David:

I know David through a networking group and love the fact that he is very easy to talk to and has a straightforward approach to the law. He has written a book on Shareholder Agreements which is a great guide to the subject. I can highly recommend David!

I recently needed to understand the scope of shareholder agreements and was not disappointed. David is comprehensive yet concise, competitively priced and offers a great follow up service. A personable, credible and reliable business professional.

I’ve known David for a number of years and worked with him collaboratively on several client matters. He knows his stuff and is very clear on costs. I recommend him to my clients for advice on business sales and shareholders agreements.

During 19 years working as a corporate solicitor David has met hundreds of business owners and learned about their legal wants and needs. David Hughes is a business lawyer. But he tries hard not to be a typical one. Or at least, to be a modern one. He says: “I know how difficult it can be to find great legal help with the right balance of old-fashioned personal service and at a reasonable fixed price. I have written a book on shareholder agreements and some legal guides.”

David’s overall objective is always to keep things simple and straightforward. In his role as a commercial solicitor he has advised plenty of sole traders and owner managers. This includes the Board of the London Aquarium in their sale to Merlin Entertainments. David has also advised the owners of Luton Airport and Altium UK.

David Hughes’s particular specialism is:

1. Shareholder Agreements
Managing the business relationship between joint partners in a company – this is done via a shareholder agreement – which is sometimes referred to as a ‘living will’ for company owners.

2. Buying and Selling Shares in a Company
Helping company owners through the process of buying or selling a business via shares, including the SPA, disclosure letter, due diligence, stock transfer forms and directors resignations.

3. Share Re-organisations
Creating A & B shares, altering voting rights, sub-dividing shares and giving shares to employees.
